I just bought a troy-bilt 20hp riding mower, when I go to cut in reverse the engine turns off. Is there a safety feature that I can remove that will let me cut in reverse? Thanks for any feedback

i am an LS, before i joined the navy the classifier told me that since i was full time support i would most likely be assigned shore duty overseas. when i talked to my second classifier in boot camp he told me i would be doing "warehousing". it has been 3 weeks since i graduated bootcamp and i still have not gotten my orders, while everyone else i know(active, not fts) has their orders and all of them are to ships. is it likely my classifiers lied to me and i will be assigned to a ship? i was really looking forward to seeing either japan or italy. i really don't want to be stationed on a carrier. did my classifiers get my hopes up and give me unrealistic expectations about my first command?

Lawnmower "kicks back" when trying to start.?

I've got this one For Sure!There is a key/pin holding the flywheel in correct timing,to the shaft.What has happened is while the blade was loose,it was slamming the key hard,and as it is supposed to gets chopped or slit.Just get the flywheel key and pop the flywheel off.Remove the nut holding the flywheel on!The flywheel may need a bar with leverage,to jerk it loose from the shaft.The pin will be widened.Just line it back up and insert the new pin.When it bends or brakes,it causes the engine timing to be off stopping the engine until repaired.But to much choppings around the blade should be ruled out first.But this is right.Trust me!Thank you and Good Luck.

It sheared off the woodruff key on the flywheel. But it didn't burn oil after I fixed the key. I think the prognosis for your mower isn't as good as mom's peonies. If it will run, limp along. If not, you might be able to fix it. Tear it apart and see what it takes. If you have the time, you might be able to fix it for less than a new one. I'm going to tell mom about the goundhogs.

What could be wrong with my A/C?

have you try refilling the A/C? somtimes there is a button in form of snow that u must press when the a/c is suposly on. now if you have tried that and nothing, try cheking that all fuses work. if you have try this and nothing then is time to worry, it can be the blend door, about running the a/c less than 1 time a season is not true, the cost of repair can be from 10$-500$ depending in what the problem is. (the reason i say up to 500 or posiibly more is cuz the blen door. other wise is in the 20$ or less. good luck

How to fix Lawnmower that wont crank or start?

Lawnmower battery was left on for about 3 days by accident. Upon notice new battery and fuse were bought but still nothing. When key is turned on nothing happens still. I tried testing the solenoid (4 piece) with multimeter and didnt get a reading on both the bottom left prong or the top right bolt. Is it just solenoid or Any ideas on where to check next? My lawnmower stalls after running for about 15 secs if I move it. Any idea why?

Its a b&s 4hp push lawn mower. If I start it and stand in one spot, keeps running. If I try to push it, lasts about 15 seconds and stalls. Also, to get it started again, I have to reprime each time, even if it did run for quite a while last time. I have just done an oil change and put in new filter.

Lawnmower keeps stalling, Why? (more info below...)?

It periodically stalls after running well for awhile; if I tilt it forward or bounce it up and down, when it starts acting up, it will rev up again. Sometimes it keeps running, sometimes it dies again. After it dies it won't start until I take off the gas cap and blow into the tank. It then runs ok until the next time. This is a 8 year old Sears 6 Hp "one pull start" mower. I've replaced the carb and cleaned out the fuel tank and lines but that didn't help. Out of ideas; has anybody else had this problem?

I really want to enlist. Ive been trying for a while. Having difficulties because i have a ged and no college credits. (cant get into college right now because i only have 9 months in my new city and i have to be 12 months to be considered resident and i cant move back to my old city). i took the asvab got a 60. i also took the physical at MEPS and passed. normally next step would be swear in etc. and get your ship date for BCT. Unfortunately (i think its new) ged applicants now also require to pass a AIMS test. Its some type of personality/morality test. i tanked it because supposedly i had answered the way i thought they would want me to answer instead of just answering truthfully. That there is no right or wrong answers they just all have to match. Its very tricky most people dont know what it is and the few stuff ive found online on it its other people who also failed it. What can i say i know the military can choose to be picky right now with numbers because of the recession. I guess this is one way of doing it. My recruiter already had active duty ready for me (they only had reserve available but i wanted active) and we found out i failed last moment right before i was suppose to see my counselor. i was so dissappointed. He said i would have to wait 6 months to retake the AIMS but that he'd try to get a waiver ASAP. That was like a day after and it got denied cus not even a week passed by im guessing. Lawnmower drive-belt problem?

Hello, I have a early 2000s Simplicity 15 horse riding lawnmower. Long story short, the drive-belt came loose at the pulley under the seat. It is on all other pulleys (3 I think) but I can't seem to get it over that pulley under the seat. Do I have to tear the whole back of the mower apart to get it on? Or is there some easy way that I am overlooking? Any tips? thanks so much

Lawnmower won't start after replacing parts?

I had to replace the oil seal on my lawnmower. This required me to take off the bolts on the oil pan (engine assembly) in order to remove the old oil seal. I ended up changing the spark plug, oil, and cleaning the air filter after that. Where could I have done something wrong because now the machine won't even start up after any amount of pulls. Honey got it right. It sounds like a fuel problem. The first thing I would check would be the portable gas can. See if it has dirt or water in it. Water will look like blobs on the bottom of the can. Old gas will make it hard to start also.

I know I should have but I wanted to talk to my husband about it first, and we wasn't due back from work for another 3 days. When he did return I explained what happened. He was pretty upset. Okay, a while back I hit a log while mowing and blade began making metal on metal sound. I quickly replaced blade but for whatever reason the new blade began hitting the underside and getting hung up and not being able to move while I mowed. I literaly took a hammer to it and began hitting the undersides of the mower with my hammer. Problem solved for several mows. However, today, the problem returned and I did the same thing. Hammered the insides of the mower and once again no problems. This is a craftsman 22" blade mower. I've owned several riding mowers over the years,and all of them have one problem common to all of them. The tires go flat after a day or two.Every time I want to use it, I first have to air up the tires. Need help with a lawnmower problem!?

I have a Lawn Boy push lawn mower. Today while i was mowing the lawn i heard something weird underneath. I stopped and tipped it back so i could see that blade. There was nothing there but i think it might have been smoking a little (kinda looked like smoke was there). When i started it up again i noticed it was harder to push, even with the electric wheel turn handle pulled. I later found that when i pulled the handle the wheels wouldn't turn, and i was not able to make the lawnmower wheels turn backwards when i pulled on it. When i pull on the handle, though, the engine noise does change slightly. It drops (i think) as if it suddenly lost some power. I was wondering if maybe it could be something caught in the wheel mechanisms or something that i could fix at home, or if i might want to bring it in to have it looked at. I'm only fifteen and started using this lawnmower when my dad moved out so i don't know anything about lawnmowers.

Lawnmower not working?

I have a Craftsman Briggs and Stratton 675 series 190cc lawnmower. If I try and start it, it will get really close and then die again. It already has full gas and oil so don't say I need those. I've replaced the air filter already and taken the whole air filter system off. I've also changed the spark plug and gas line. I left it outside a couple times and when I was gone it managed to accumulate 2 feet of snow on top of it but after that we had it working...it just won't work now. Any ideas?

Lawn Mower Blade Balance Issue?

I just got a new lawn mower last night. I mowed the lawn today and never thought to raise the blade up from the lowest position before using it. I ended up hitting a big clod of dirt (from a mole I think) and it stopped the blade cold. I finished the lawn, but the mower vibrated more than it had been before. I pulled the blade off and got rid of the dents in the blade with a file. The blade is very unbalanced though. It isn't bent, but in order to balance it you would need to grind off about 1/4 inch of material on one edge. I know hitting the dirt didn't cause enough damage to make the blade that unbalanced. The "driveshaft" or whatever you'd call it on a lawnmower looks fine and isn't noticeably bent. Any ideas on why this is or how to get the blade to balance?

Is there any way to take off the piece of metal on a lawnmower that connects the blade and the mower?

alright so you take off a blade and you have the little attachment that goes onto the 1" bar that comes out of the mower to attach to the blade. the little attachment secures the blade, its about a 2"x3" peace that looks like there is a gap between the attachment and the bar, is there any way to take that off... just for information, the blade is already off i'm not talking about the piece that holds the blade on but the peace that the blade is placed on before screw goes onto the blade to secure it. there doesn't seem to be any screws or anything to hold it in place. please help and thank you

I have a Torro Zero turn mower I bought used last year. About a week ago half way through the back yard it started sputtering pretty badly then stalled out I had added fuel about a half hour before. I got it started and it puttered back onto the shed. I checked the fins for pluggage and the cleaned the air filters (wich I'd already done at the beginning of the summer), I changed the fuel filter but it didn't look plugged. I'm thinking though it has something to do with the fuel, its fresh but maybe water got in there or there's to much eathonol in the gas. I haven't drained the tank or taken off the fuel lines to check for pluggage yet. Is there anything else I should look at that I haven't? Does it sound likely the sputtering is caused by bad fuel? It sputters and stalls even when the engine is cool. It stalls out faster when the blades are on. Any ideas or insights would be apreciated. I'm going to buy some addative for the fuel tomorrow and change the oil (the level is okay but I haven't changed it in a while).

How do I get my lawnmower started again?

I checked the oil and forgot to tighten the dipstick back on such that I got oil all over. I then drained it and wound up overfilling it such that the cord won't pull all the way. I took the spark plug out and I still can't pull the cord more than six inches or so... It was just running recently so I think this has to do with my oil "screw-ups" more than any filter. You should be safe enough using that same oil in most makes, unless as already mentioned, it is a two cycle. Lawnmower won't start?

I bought a new yard-man push mower at wal mart yesterday. It was storming fine, then ran out of gas. I filled it and tried to start it, nothing. I tried priming. The primer bulb does nit seem to be pushing any fuel. I took tge air filter cover off and there is gas coming out if the hole behind the air filter. Is there an easy fix or should I take it back?

Riding Lawn Mower Help?

I sold my mower to a friend and i go back down and calls me back up a hour later saying that the lawnmower is making a clunking noise. I don't know if this could cause it but the belt is dry and cracked. But also the it sounds like a gear in the transmission. It will go clunk and go again. The shifter to put in forward neutral or reverse moves back in fourth. The wheels when they spin in the air didn't seem like they were getting much power. Either way i put it in forwar or reverse it will making a clunking or hitting sound.

Primer bulb sucked in?

On my lawnmower the primer bulb has begun getting sucked inside-out and every 3-5 minutes the engine cuts out. When I pull the primer bulb back out, it starts OK again. Thought it was a clogged air cleaner, cleaned it and it gets lots of air - still doing this.

The same thing happened to me, but I don't know for sure if that person really has the item and they are just jerks. You should always have a tracking number. It costs .80 cents. If you don't want to pay it, charge them for it. Some people are jerks and since they know that you did not provide a tracking number they will say that they did not receive it. So, then they open a case and you lose because eBay does not know who to believe. In this case they will favor the buyer and not the seller. Next time have a tracking number. You can call (it's better if you call) and tell them what happened. But I really doubt they will favor you. Sorry, I know how it feels. Also, when you sell an item, go to where you select who gets to buy your items. Ex. you get to pick how many posiitve feedback a buyer hads to have in order to buy from you- this way you know that this person is honest.

Dude, like, I think YOU must own all 5 acres. Some areas and counties have restrictions / zoning regulations. My county in Ohio permits "race tracks" on land zoned "agricultural". Land area or size doesn't matter in this case. However, my land is under a special restriction that never allows dirt bike or atv operation. This sort of sucks because I have this Suzuki mini bike for the grand kids to ride and they can't ride it here. You need a lot of land that is away from people's houses.

Why is my motorcycle making that noise?

I have a 1981 yamaha 1100 xs. This morning i was riding it to work and and it was fine. Halfway through my ride, i was on the freeway and my bike starts losing power. I manage to make it to work which is just off the freeway and when i stop, my bike is idling just under 1k rpms and it dies. After work the same exact thing happens except that i made it home. when it started to lose power it sounded almost like a lawnmower engine. I had to really get on the throttle to keep it going. It kinda felt like it was shaking a little bit. which i'm sure isn't normal. i put it in the 2nd choke setting and it seemed okay to get me home. I'm not a motorcycle mechanic obviously so if anyone has had this problem and has the solution would be a great help. thanks in advance
