Does my landlord have to legally provide a lawnmower, if they want me to maintain the yard?

I am renting a house, the landlord said we have to mow and maintain the lawn. The mower they left at the house doesn't work. Is the landlord legally responsible for providing a working mower for this purpose, or do I have to get my own?
