Will AT&T replace my broken phone at no cost to me or my contract?

I broke my AT&T phone about 2 days ago, and I am fully aware that the break was likely my fault. I have had my phone for about a year and a half, so my contract expires in the next 6 months. This is my first and only phone with AT&T, so I've never experienced what happens when a phone breaks with them. I have used Verizon before, and I can remember that they will ship me a new phone if I send the old one back. I leave for college in 2 months, and I have to switch carriers because AT&T is not supported in my college town. I will be moving to Verizon in 2 months after paying the early termination fee and all that. But I really do not want to wait 2 months to have a phone again. I am planning on going to AT&T today to see what they can do about this at no cost to me or my contract. If I go to AT&T, will there be any way they can help me at no cost?
