Is there a book that covers all the basics regaurding mechanics?

my little brothers 13 now and for his birthday his dad got him a gokart and a riding lawnmower, both keep having issues. like cacked gas tanks broken fuel lines chains coming loose etc... and hes into fixing them so i was wondering if there was a book i could get him that covers the basic things like that (and all the othere stuff that is bound to happen). so is there?
