If I buy a new 120gb ps3 off of amazon, will it still be covered under warranty by sony?

I know that the 120gb version of the ps3 has been discontinued, but there are still new ones on amazon. Are they still under sony standard 1 year warranty? Also, is shipping from amazon delicate on the ps3 system or is it likely to be damaged? Thanks
