Fixing broken lawnmower cable?

husband ran over lawnmower cable yesterday. have bought a flex connector 10 amp 3 pin orange thingy from shop - but lawnmower uses 13 amp plug? is this connector ok to rig to lawnmower. also going to use trip switch plug thing now and was wondering as we use an extension plug reel, should that cut out plug be plugged into extension reel or socket in the house. many thanks
